Career Dad is born
During paternity leave for the second time, I was asked to write two articles: one about paternity leave itself; and a second about working from home with a newborn. At the time I was actually struggling with paternity leave, and had started looking for an online space where people were talking about what I was experiencing… but it didn’t exist.
So I created it.
Career Dad’s goal is to connect dads who are both focussed in their career, as well as wanting to be the best fathers they can be. These priorities are often in conflict. Through a series of articles and podcasts we’ll lift the bonnet on what it means to be a career focussed modern man.
The world is moving on and organisations are catching up, but there’s a long way to go. I want Career Dad to champion working fathers, with my aim to create a better environment for the future.
Thank you for being a part of this journey with me. Together, we can create a better space for dads, mums and children everywhere.
I’m Dan Reed: Head of Platform Delivery at Barclays; Dad of two beautiful kids; and, Founder of Career Dad.
I’ve been working in the digital and marketing space, focussed within financial services, since finishing my Masters’ degree from the University of Hull in 2010. I’m a huge advocate of digital transformation through people, process and technology (in that order) – something I’ve had the pleasure of speaking about at Adobe Summit. If you’d like to know more, I’m always happy to connect on LinkedIn.
